Behind the mask with Megan Willis: May 15
05.15.2007 | Softball
Hey everyone,
Sorry it has been so long since I last posted a new, 'Behind the mask.' I have been swamped with studying and packing, especially last week and yesterday (Monday). I am finally done with finals and done with school forever! Wow, that really sounds great. At this point everyone on the team is done with finals, which means we can focus solely on softball.
We found out on Sunday that we received an at-large bid to NCAA Regionals, so that was great news. We will be traveling to Gainesville, Fla., for the regional and our first game is against hot-hitting Georgia Tech at 2:30 p.m. CT on Friday. Stetson and Florida are the other two teams that made it to our region, so it looks like we are going to have a tough regional.
We have practice at 1 p.m. today (Tuesday). We are practicing at that time of the day because we still have a few girls finishing up finals this morning and we have to prepare ourselves for the hot and humid weather in Florida. I do not think it will be difficult to deal with that type of weather because we are used to it here in Texas. Other than practice I have some last minute things to do before we leave. I still have to pack, turn in all my books, meet with my counselor, go for a run and talk with my realtor. Leave it to me to push things to the very last minute!
As for me, I am starting to pack up my apartment, which I have to do all by myself. Whenever we are done with softball, I plan to get my belongings out within a few days. Not that I want to leave Austin, but I really want to go see (former Texas pitcher) Sam (LeCure) out in Chattanooga, Tenn. before I have to head out to Chicago for the summer. (On a side note, he is pitching really well out there and hitting well, too! Pitchers get to hit once they are in Double A.) The first game starts on May 29 and because I have no idea when we will actually be done, I have to have my whole place packed up. It is really hard because I can't decide what I really need and what I can live without. Thankfully I sold my big sectional couch, which is great news because that means I don't have to move it.
Alright, well it's time for me to get my day started. Send us some good vibes while we are out in Florida!
Hook 'em,
Megan
