AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas senior Kasey Moore garnered her third-straight National Soccer Coaches of American Association (NSCAA) All-America accolade with her third team selection. Moore becomes the first player in Texas history to earn the honor three times after being selected to the First Team in 2006 and the Third Team in 2007.
The defender joins seniors Dianna Pfenninger and Stephanie Logterman on the 2008 NSCAA All-Central Region Division I First Team, tying the highest number of UT soccer players (three) in program history to receive First-Team selections (2007, 2002 and 2000).
Moore, the 2007 and 2008 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year produced a breakout year on the offensive side of the field this season, leading the Horns in scoring with 16 points off six goals and four assists. The defender also led the squad with three game-winning goals.
The three-time All-American has also been a staple on the UT backline during her four-year career on the Forty Acres. Moore aided the Longhorn defense to a school-record 11 shutouts and helped hold opponents to a school-record 14 goals. The senior was one of just five players on the 40-player 2008 All-America Teams to earn the honor for the third time.
Pfenninger received her first regional First Team nod after shattering her own UT season record (0.85) for lowest goals-against average with a 0.65 mark. The senior keeper posted a career-high nine shutouts while only giving up 14 goals in 21 matches. Pfenninger finished her four-year career in Austin with the UT career record for minutes played (7,959), shutouts (27), wins (54) and goals-against average (0.859).
Logterman earned her second-straight regional First Team selection and third overall after being selected to the Second Team in 2006. The defender from Austin also made an impact offensively this season, racking up four goals and three assists for a career-high 11 points. The three-time All-Big 12 First Team selection also helped the UT backline post a school-record 11 shutouts and held opponents to just 14 goals in 21 matches.
Texas finished the 2008 campaign with a 13-4-4 record after a 2-1 loss to Portland in the Second Round of the NCAA Championship, marking its third-straight appearance in the Round of 32.
