Michigan rebounded immediately, putting together a five-run rally in the fifth to blow the game open. Shortstop Teddi Ewing kicked off the inning with a double and moved to third on a wild pitch. Molly Bausher followed with a walk and an RBI single by Alessandra Giampaolo scored Ewing from third. Bausher and Giampaolo advanced on a sacrifice before a Samantha Findlay walk loaded the bases.
