No. 6 Men's Tennis blanks Nebraska, 7-0

LINCOLN, Neb. -- No. 6 Texas (17-3, 3-0 Big 12) navigated through a challenging doubles session before sweeping the ensuing six singles matches, as the Longhorns defeated host Nebraska (9-11, 0-2) by a 7-0 count to claim their fourth consecutive victory.
Texas swept the three doubles matches to win the doubles point for a 12th consecutive match. Freshmen Ed Corrie and Kellen Damico fought off Nebraska's Renato Melo and Tobias Schneider at the first slot, 9-7, and senior Luis Diaz Barriga and junior Miguel Reyes Varela knocked off Calin Paar and Francois Van Impe at the second position, 8-4.
Sophomores Dimitar Kutrovsky and Josh Zavala held off the Huskers' David Bendheim and Hendrik Stahmer, 8-6, at third doubles. Texas has not surrendered the doubles point since Feb. 16, when it suffered a 4-2 loss to No. 3 Georgia at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship in Seattle.
Kutrovsky made short work of Bendheim at first singles, winning by a 6-2, 6-2 count. Damico rallied from a one-set deficit to defeat NU's Paar, 4-6, 7-6 (6), 1-0 (10-5), at second singles. Corrie quickly defeated Nebraska's Stahmer at third singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Diaz Barriga outlasted NU's Van Impe at fourth singles, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4).
Senior Milan Mihailovic, like Diaz Barriga and Damico, rallied from a one-set deficit to emerge with a win, as he defeated Melo by a 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4) count at fifth singles. Sophomore Josh Zavala defeated Mark Tate in short order, winning by a 6-2, 6-1 count at sixth singles.
Texas hits the road on Wednesday, April 9 for a crucial conference match at No. 15 Baylor. First serve is set for 6 p.m. Central at the Baylor Tennis Center in Waco.
