AUSTIN, Texas -- An All-American at The University of Texas in 1995, Carrie Busch-Dodd earned the best finish of her AVP career at the Belmar Open in Belmar, N.J., on June 22, earning a second-place finish.
Busch-Dodd teamed with partner Tatiana Minello at the AVP Belmar Open to take second place, falling in three sets to Annett Davis and Jenny Johnson-Jordan (15-21, 21-18, 15-10). The 2002 AVP Setter of the Year and Minello played their way through five rounds of competition to reach the final, including a 2-0 (22-20, 21-19) victory over Dianne DeNecochea and Barbra Fontana in the semifinals.
After earning first-team All-Southwest Conference honors and Texas Team MVP accolades in 1995, Busch-Dodd has gone on to a successful nine-year career on the beach. She has ranked in the top-15 of a domestic tour in all but one of her seasons playing professional beach volleyball. Busch-Dodd and Minello ranked eighth on the AVP tour in 2007 and are on pace to post their most successful season yet, earning a second place and a pair of third place finishes in 2008.
