Volleyball set to play first spring matches at FAST Tournament

The Longhorns head to Houston for three matches.
AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Volleyball will open its spring season Saturday, March 28, traveling to Houston for three matches at the FAST Tournament at the FAST Complex.
The Longhorns begin the day at 11 a.m. against Baylor. Texas also will also face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at noon and TCU at 2 p.m.
Two-time AVCA first-team All-American Torrey Stafford led the Longhorns in 2025 in kills (516), service aces (33) and points (580.5). Over 30 matches, Stafford averaged 4.69 kills per set and hit .360. She also totaled 52 blocks, including a team-leading 11 solo blocks. Stafford was an AVCA National Player of the Year semifinalist.
Cari Spears earned AVCA third-team All-America honors last season as a freshman. The Frisco, Texas native was named SEC Freshman of the Week five times, SEC Player of the Week twice and AVCA Player of the Week once. It marked the first time in two years a freshman earned the national weekly honor. Spears finished the season with 358 kills, second on the team, averaging 3.25 kills per set while hitting .295.
Both players earned All-SEC first-team honors in 2025. Spears also was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, along with Taylor Harvey and Abby Vander Wal.
Texas will play three additional matches during the spring, traveling to face Houston on Saturday, April 4, at the Fertitta Center. The Longhorns then will host two matches at the Recreational Sports Center, facing TCU on Saturday, April 11, at 1 p.m., and Rice on Friday, April 17, at 5 p.m.
