Marshevet Hooker places fourth in 100m finals at U.S. Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. -- Former University of Texas standout Marshevet Hooker recorded a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter finals with a time of 10.93. Hooker missed a spot on the 2008 Olympic Squad by three-tenths of a second, as the top three performers will represent the U.S. in Beijing, China.
Hooker, a four-time NCAA Champion, started the trials strong as she topped her heats in both the quarter and semifinals. Her wind-aided time 10.76 (+3.4 wind) in the quarters was fastest overall while she came in second in the semis with a 10.89 (+3.2 wind).
The two-time Big 12 women's track athlete of the year and 2007 UT graduate, clocked the third fastest time in the world this year and was the top U.S. finisher in the 100-meters at the 2008 Reebok Grand Prix with a 10.94.
Still competing for the Horns in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials, held at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene, is 2004 Olympian Sanya Richards. The 2006 world female track athlete of the year will compete in the 400-meter quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Central on Sunday, June 29.
