AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas freshman Courtney Goodson headed home the game winner in the 105th minute to lift the Horns past Arizona, 2-1, in double overtime, Sunday night at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Goodson netted both goals in the win for her first multi-goal game as a Longhorn.
With the victory, Texas extended its home unbeaten streak to 19 games, the longest stretch in program history.
Arizona got on the board first in the 29th minute. Senior Sally Thurner dribbled into the penalty box, then passed it back to freshman Renae Cuellar who was alone at the top of the arc. Cuellar fired the ball into the upper right corner past UT keeper Dianna Pfenninger to give UA the 1-0 advantage. The goal was just the second score allowed by the Longhorns this season.
The Longhorns pulled even in the 57th minute. Senior Stephanie Logterman played the ball to sophomore Niki Arlitt from the left corner. Arlitt crossed the ball to Goodson who was waiting at the penalty hash. The San Diego native headed the ball to the upper left corner for her third goal of the season.
Both teams had opportunities to score during the rest of regulation, but neither was able to capitalize, sending the match into extra time. The first 10 minute period saw legitimate opportunities shot down by both keepers to push the match into its second set of extra minutes.
UT connected on the only shot of the second overtime period to claim the victory. Senior Courtney Gaines sent a corner kick into the far corner of the short box where senior Kasey Moore attempted to head the ball in but was denied. Goodson connected on the deflected shot to net the game winner in the 105th minute.
The Longhorns are now 2-0 in overtime matches this season and are off to their best start in program history with their 5-0 mark.
Texas returns to action as it hosts Houston, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. Central.

POSTGAME QUOTES
Senior Kasey Moore
On whether Arizona was the best team played so far: Definitely, they gave us the best challenge and were probably the best team we've played all year long. They gave us a good gut check because we had been playing easy teams but it was definitely a higher level of playing.
On the first half and their lack of intensity: Yeah it was unfortunate, all over the field we weren't playing as well as we could have been playing. They scored a great goal, I'll give them credit for that. It wasn't well-earned, but we just came into the second half knowing how good we could be and we just stepped up our game from there.
On what coach told you after first half: He just told us that we needed to work harder. We weren't working, we had a lazy first half. But we started working harder and closing them down more and putting more pressure on them and they couldn't get out of the back as much. We were in their half second half.
On overtime and a great comeback and her teammate's goal: Yeah it was great, I'm really glad it worked out for us and her. She's worked hard all preseason long and I'm glad it all paid off for her.
Freshman Courtney Goodson
On the physical aspect of the game and how she had to step up her own: Even though I'm pretty big, they just hit you harder so you just have to stand your ground and control your position, make the play and then run.
On the troubles in the first half: We weren't at all where we were supposed to be during the first half, we were just sort of chasing the ball around. But we had a nice talk about it over halftime and we got it together.
On winning in overtime:We just came together and knew the last 10 to 20 minutes were really what were going to count.
Head Coach Chris Petrucelli
On the key to the comeback: We just tried to do a better job of finding their players defensively and marking up. Number two, we got a little more physical. And third, we got the ball into the wide spaces and really used the field.
On Courtney Goodson's performance: Goodson is very good at scoring goals. She got to it in the air, she has a good shot. I thought she did a really nice job possessing the ball as well. Two goals for any player is a great night, but two goals for a freshman is as good as it gets.
On the first half and the game overall: We gave the ball away a lot, and I think we could have been better. This was a good team, and they will win a lot of games. But at the same time, we played them a year ago and lost to them. They are a much better team right now than they were then, so when you get a win against a team like that, you have to be happy.
