Fortune invited to Brazilian Women's National Team Camp

AUSTIN, Texas -- University of Texas women's soccer signee Leah Fortune has been invited to join the Brazilian National Women's Team Camp which will train at the National Training Center in Teresopolis , Brazil, from April 6th-18th.
This is the first invitation to the National Camp for Fortune, who has already recorded 13 caps with the U20 National team. The future Longhorn is the youngest of 31 players asked to participate in the National Camp.
"I was the youngest on the U20 team, so I am both excited and a little anxious about this new, upcoming experience," Fortune said. "I see it as a great honor and opportunity to train with the best."
After the 12-day camp, the roster will be whittled down to 18 players that will travel to Europe and face Germany on April 22 and Sweden on April 25. The National Team already includes the three-time FIFA Women's World Player of the Year (2006-08) Marta and Cristiane. Both will forgo camp and join the team two days before the match against Germany due to commitments to their respective Women's Professional Soccer clubs.
The Brazilian National Team is coached by Kleiton Lima, who took over the position six weeks ago after coaching the U20 National team the past few years. Four players from the U20 squad have been asked to join the camp.
"I know the competition will be fierce and with me being the youngest and it being my first time there with the women's team, it will be difficult to move on, but I am going to compete fiercely and learn all that I can."
