COLUMBUS, Ind. -- University of Texas senior Kelley Louth(80-73-76) fired a final-round 4-over-par 76 in the Indiana Invitational to record a career-best tie for second place at 13-over 229. As a team, the Longhorns (323-312-313=948, +84) posted a third-place finish in the 54-hole event that saw all elements of winter weather over both days.
Louth - the individual leader in Texas' last four events - began her final round on the fifth hole of the Otter Creek Golf Club with back-to-back bogeys. She incurred two additional bogeys on the back nine at holes 11 and 17 before making her lone birdie of the day on the 18th hole. A final bogey on the fourth hole - her last of the day - resulted in the 4-over scorecard.
Freshman Nicole Vandermade (76-73-85=234, +18) began the day tied for the 36-hole lead, marking the first time she has slept on the lead in her college career. She dropped five strokes after starting bogey-double-double on her first three holes, and fell out of the mix for medalist honors. Vandermade's final-round 85 dropped her to a tie for 10th place at 18-over 234. The Canadian native now has a team-high five top-25 finishes this season.
Junior Shannon Fish (80-83-77) finished tied for 23rd at 240. Seniors Kristin Walla (87-83-76=246) and Caney Hines (87-84-84=255) rounded out the Longhorns squad and tied for 41st and 60th places, respectively. Junior Alex Richards (85-84-87=256) competed as an individual and tied for 62nd place.
Conditions were challenging throughout both days, as players fought a combination of wind, rain, snow and hail. The average scorecard was 82.65, nearly 11 strokes above par.
UNLV (317-309-305) finished atop the team standings at 67-over 931. Iowa State (323-310-311) finished 13 strokes behind the Rebels in second place at 80-over 944, while Texas (323-312-313) came in third at 84-over 948.
The Longhorns will remain idle until traveling to Lubbuck, Texas, on April 24 for the Big 12 Championship.
