AUSTIN, Texas -- The Longhorns were named one of 16 regional sites by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee for the 63rd annual NCAA Division I Baseball Championship.
By virtue of being awarded a regional, all 16 host institutions have also been selected to the 64-team field.
The announcement of hosting a regional signals the 53rd time the Texas Longhorns will play in any variation of the NCAA Division I baseball tournament, the most among any Division I school.
This marks the 23rd time UFCU Disch-Falk Field will host an NCAA Regional and the first since the 2006 season. The Longhorns served as host in 2007, but the games were played at The Dell Diamond in nearby Round Rock. Texas has served as sole host of an NCAA regional on 34 occasions prior to this season.
Other regional hosts include Atlanta (Georgia Tech), Baton Rouge (LSU), Chapel Hill (UNC), Clemson, Fort Worth (TCU), Fullerton (Cal State Fullerton), Gainesville (Florida), Greenville (East Carolina), Houston (Rice), Irvine (UC Irvine), Louisville, Norman (Oklahoma), Oxford (Mississippi), Tallahassee (Florida State), Tempe (Arizona State).
The remaining at-large teams, top-eight national seeds, first-round regional pairing and site assignments will be announced at 11:30 a.m. Central on Monday, May 25, during a live, half-hour program on ESPN.
