Sophomore is one of five finalists for prestigious honor
AUSTIN, Texas — For the second straight season, Dylan Volantis was named a finalist for the National Pitcher of the Year Award, the College Baseball Foundation announced Thursday afternoon.
Volantis is one of five finalists for the prestigious honor, alongside Mason Edwards (USC), Jackson Flora (UC Santa Barbara), Aidan King (Florida) and Maxx Yehl (West Virginia).
The 2026 Pitcher of the Year will be announced during a press conference at the Men's College World Series in Omaha, Neb. on June 13.
A sophomore from Thousand Oaks, Calif., Volantis has registered the second-best FIP (1.75) and third-lowest ERA (1.94) in the country. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound southpaw also ranks sixth in WHIP (0.94) and 11th in B/AVG (.181).Volantis leads the SEC in all four categories.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound left-hander has notched 116 strikeouts over a team-best 83 1/3 innings. Volantis has logged a 9-1 mark in 15 appearances, including 14 starts.
As of June 4, he paces all active qualifying hurlers in career ERA (1.94).
