Today (5/28) was an exciting day. We rode on the "Blue Line" ferry the night before and woke up this morning at 6:00 a.m. in Ancona, Italy. We had a room no bigger than a bathroom stall and it consisted of four bunk beds, two stacked on top of each other and no windows what so ever. It was quite the experience. Also, we each had to carry two huge bags up two flights of stairs and then back down three flights of stairs all in one trip. This was just to exit the boat! Let's just say we got our work out in. After we docked we loaded everything into two vans and headed for the hotel for some breakfast.
Breakfast was very filling and consisted of croissants, cereal, jelly-filled bread and fruit. Here at breakfast is where I discovered Nutella which is like chocolate that you put on your bread. It really makes everything taste better. After breakfast we headed to the shops near the Museo Santa Casa. We also saw many beautiful churches. There was something very special about this one church which was called The Shrine of the Holy House, which was the only one with a black Madonna. This is called the Loreto and is held inside the church. After everyone was done touring, shopping, and taking pictures, it was time to eat.
We went to a great local restaurant and were treated to handmade gnocchi, salad and tons of bread. It was delicious! We then headed to the beach. It was gorgeous! We were only out there for an hour and a half, but it was fun while it lasted. Once we were done with the beach we grabbed some Gelato. Here in Italy there are many more flavors to choose from. We all discovered a new flavor, which had Kinder bars in it, called Kindering. After that we had an hour drive back to the hotel to shower up and head to a vineyard for a nice Italian dinner. After that, once again we had gelato and headed back to the hotel for a good night rest. I guess you can say we are "living the life." Stay tuned for more on the Longhorns.
