TEAM NOTES
- Texas improved to 97-17-3 (.842) all-time in season openers.
- Texas improved to 76-7-2 (.906) when opening the season at home.
- Texas is 11-1 in home openers under Mack Brown, including winning 10 in a row.
- In Brown's 12 openers at Texas, the Horns have outscored their opponents by an average of 49-11 (585-136).
- Mack Brown has won 13 of his last 14 and 19 of his last 22 season openers.
- Texas posted at least 400 yards of total offense for the 72nd time of its last 104 games.

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Sam Acho
- Acho grabbed his first career fumble recovery early with 11:57 remaining in the third quarter.
Nolan Brewster
- Brewster recorded his first career interception with 4:43 remaining in the third quarter.
Dan Buckner
- Buckner logged career highs with five receptions and 62 receiving yards in the game. Buckner previously had one catch in five different games and his yardage high was 51 yards against Missouri last season.
John Chiles
- Chiles' three receptions and 35 receiving yards were both career-highs. He entered the season with one reception for six yards in his career.
- Chiles' 14-yard TD reception with 11:51 remaining in the third quarter was the first of his career and a career-long reception.
Garrett Gilbert
- Gilbert's 12-yard rushing TD with 7:16 remaining in the fourth quarter was the first of his career and came on his first collegiate rushing attempt.
Cody Johnson
- Johnson equaled a career-high with three TD rushes matching his three against Oklahoma last season. - Johnson moved his career rushing TD total to 15.
Sergio Kindle
- Kindle's fumble recovery at the beginning of the first quarter was his first of the season and the third of his career.
Colt McCoy
- McCoy moved his career record as a starter to 33-7.
- McCoy became the fourth player in Big 12 Conference history to reach the 10,000-yard plateau in passing yardage. He trails only Texas Tech's Graham Harrell (15,793), Missouri's Chase Daniel (12,515) and Texas Tech's Kliff Kingsbury (12,429) on the list with 10,049 yards.
- McCoy became the first UT player to pass for over 10,000 yards, extending his school record to 10,049.
- McCoy's 189 passing yards in the second quarter ranks seventh on UT's list for most receiving yards in a quarter. The record is 234 by Chris Simms in the third quarter against Texas A&M in 2000 and McCoy also ranks third on the list with his 219 yards in the second quarter against Rice in 2007.
- With two TD passes, McCoy improved his UT career record to 87, fourth on the Big 12 Conference all-time list.
- McCoy has thrown for at least 200 yards in 30 career games, which eclipses Major Applewhite (29) for UT's career record.
- McCoy has thrown for at least 300 yards in 11 career games to extend his school record.
- McCoy has thrown at least two TD passes in 28 of his 40 career games.
- McCoy extended his streak to 18 consecutive games with a TD pass, which ranks second on UT's all-time list behind Major Applewhite's 19.
- McCoy logged over 300 yards of total offense for the 22nd time in his career with 314.
Vondrell McGee
- McGee logged his second-best career rushing effort with 70 yards, trailing just the 80 yards he logged against Rice as a freshman in 2007.
- McGee's 4-yard rushing TD with 14:56 left in the fourth quarter was the 13th of his career.
D.J. Monroe
- Monroe returned a kickoff 89 yards for a TD on his first ever collegiate play at the 9:54 mark of the second quarter.
- Monroe recorded 175 yard of all-purpose yardage in his first career game.
Jordan Shipley
- Shipley's 164 receiving yards in the first half ranks third on UT's list for most first-half receiving yards behind only Tony Jones' 198 yards against Pittsburgh in the 1987 Bluebonnet Bowl and Roy Williams 180 yards against Kansas in 2000.
- Shipley logged a career-high 180 receiving yards which is tied with Roy Williams (vs. Kansas, 2000) and Kwame Cavil (vs. Stanford 1999) for seventh place on the UT single-game receiving list.
- Shipley recorded the fourth 100-yard receiving game of his career.
- Shipley's 78-yard TD reception with 2:24 remaining in the first quarter was a career long, topping his 68-yard reception against Texas A&M last season.
- Shipley ended the game with 1,886 career receiving yards, passing Tony Jones (1,842) for seventh place on the UT career list.
- Shipley ended the game with 21 career TD receptions, passing Limas Sweed (20) for sole possession of second place on the UT career list.
Attendance: 101,096. A stadium attendance record and the first-ever game with over 100,000 fans at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. It also marks the 54th consecutive sellout at Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
