Men's Cross Country places second at NCAA South Central Regional

WACO, Texas -- The Texas men's cross country team placed second at the NCAA South Central Regional in Waco, Texas. The second-place finish qualifies the Longhorns for the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday Nov. 22.
The Longhorns scored 66 points, finishing behind region champion Arkansas (30) and ahead of Lamar (102). Five Texas runners qualified for all-region honors - freshman Ryan Dohner, redshirt freshman Patrick McGregor, junior Brian Rhodes-Devey, senior Bradley Lowry and junior Brock Simmons.
Dohner's fifth-place finish led the Longhorns in the 10K race, finishing in 30:21.1. Four other Longhorns finished in the top 25 with McGregor in 10th (30:34.5), Rhodes-Devey placing 11th (30:35.2), Lowry in 19th (30:58.2) and Simmons finishing 25th (31:04.2).
Also contributing for the Longhorns were sophomore Austin Roth, who finished 36th in 31:28.9 and sophomore Collin Smith, who ran a 31:42.6, placing 48th.
This marks the 27th time overall that the Longhorns have qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships and the second time in as many years. Texas finished tied for 28th at last year's NCAA meet.
