Women's Golf finishes in seventh place at Peg Barnard Invitational

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- The University of Texas Women's Golf team fired a final-round 315 (+31) to finish in seventh place at the Peg Barnard Invitational. The Longhorns (312-315) carded a 36-hole score of 59-over 627 on the par-71, 6,092-yard Stanford Golf Course in their spring debut.
Sophomore Nicole Vandermade led UT on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 12-over 154 (79-75) and finished tied for 17th. Senior Shannon Fish (76-81=157, +15) finished three strokes back and tied for 27th place.
Freshmen Madison Pressel (81-77) and Haley Stephens (76-82) tied for 32nd place at 16-over 158, while freshman Desiree Dubreuil (81-82) rounded out the Longhorns in a tie for 45th place at 21-over 163.
After withdrawing from the tournament prior to the start of the first round due to illness, freshman Katelyn Sepmoree competed as an individual for Texas on Sunday and carded an 8-over 79.
Host Stanford (304-292=596, +28) came from eight strokes behind to edge out runner-up California (296-301=597, +29) by one stroke. Oregon (305-302) finished in third place at 39-over 607.
Stanford's Sally Watson (73-71) and Cal's Joanne Lee (74-70) shared medalist honors with two-round totals of 2-over 144. Stanford's Rebecca Durham (77-70) finished three strokes behind with a 5-over 147 to place third.
The Longhorns will return to action Feb. 22-23 at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla.
