No. 1 Men's Swimming and Diving cruises past No. 23 SMU, 158-110

DALLAS -- No. 1 Texas captured 12 of 15 events en route to a 158-110 victory over No. 23 SMU Saturday evening in the Longhorns' regular-season finale at SMU's Perkins Natatorium.
UT senior Hill Taylor opened the meet with a win in the 100-yard backstroke in 49.11, and junior Scott Spann followed by taking first in the 100 breaststroke in 55.44. Sophomore Neil Caskey took the 100 butterfly in 48.57, and sophomore Jackson Wilcox led a one-two Texas finish in the 1,000 freestyle in 9:11.67. Junior Jim Robertson placed second in 9:28.42.
Junior Scott Jostes led a Texas triumvirate atop the 200 freestyle, where he took first in 1:39.54. Sophomore Kyle McNeilis took second in 1:40.51, and senior Peter Jameson placed third in 1:40.75. Sophomore Jimmy Feigen notched his first of two wins on the night in the 50 freestyle, where he took top honors with a mark of 19.97.
Senior Dave Walters led a first-through-third Texas finish in the 200 individual medley by taking first in 1:50.57. Freshman Nick D'Innocenzo took second in 1:50.73, and junior Bryan Collins placed third in 1:50.96. Junior diver Matt Cooper claimed the one-meter event with 356.70 points, and freshman Andrew Tran notched his first college win in the 200 butterfly at 1:53.98. Freshman Madison Gibson placed second in 1:56.19.
Feigen chipped in his second win in the 100 freestyle at 44.47, and Jostes added his second win of the night in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:32.93. Cooper completed the sweep of the diving events with a total of 386.32 points in the three-meter event.
Texas will begin competition at the Big 12 Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at Texas A&M's Student Rec Center Natatorium.
