CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- The University of Texas women's soccer team used four second-half goals from four different players to post a 4-0 victory over No. 22 William & Mary Sunday afternoon at Klockner Field in Charlottesville, Va. Texas moves to 5-1-1 on the season and picked up its second shutout of the year while William & Mary is now 4-2-1.
Keith got the UT scoring in the 60th minute when she netted her first goal of the season. Junior Kylie Doniak sent in a corner kick to the far post that Keith was able to head in for the score. Keith became the 10th Longhorn to record a goal this season and Doniak picked up her team-leading fourth assist of the year.
Texas continued the pressure and added another goal just one minute later. Sophomore Kristin Cummins played the ball to sophomore Hannah Higgins about three yards outside of the top of the penalty box on the right side. Higgins brought the ball in a few yards before firing a shot into the upper right corner of the net for her third goal of the season.
The Longhorns tacked on their third goal in the 71th minute from sophomore Kristin Cummins. Doniak once again started the attack when she played a ball into the William & Mary goal box to junior Stacey-Ann Smith. Smith one-touched the ball around her defender before playing it across the box where Cummins fired it for her second goal of the season.
Texas continued the scoring output when junior Amanda Lisberger posted her second goal of the season in the 29th minute. Lisberger received the ball on a failed clear from a William & Mary defender to set up a one-on-one with the Tribe's goalkeeper. Lisberger was able to force the keeper to the ground and went around her for the score.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alexa Gaul picked up her second shutout of the season while the Longhorns outshot the Tribe 14-7.
Texas returns home for a Sept. 20 Monday contest against BYU at 7 p.m. Central.
