No. 1 Men's Swimming and Diving defeats No. 11 Georgia, 135-106

ATHENS, Ga. -- No. 1 Texas (3-1) captured nine of 13 events and collected two wins apiece from diver Drew Livingston and swimmers Jimmy Feigen and Nick D'Innocenzo en route to a 135-106 victory over No. 11 Georgia (1-3) Saturday at UGA's Gabrielsen Natatorium.
The Horns opened the meet with a decisive win in the 200-yard medley relay, where sophomore Cole Cragin and juniors Eric Friedland, Neil Caskey and Feigen finished with a NCAA "B" cut of 1 minute, 29.48 seconds. Sophomore Michael McBroom followed with a team-best second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle at 9:08.38.
Senior Scott Jostes led all finishers in the 200 freestyle, as he took first with a NCAA "B" cut of 1:38.10. Sophomore Dax Hill took third in 1:38.67. Feigen followed with his first individual win of the day, as he claimed the 50 freestyle with a NCAA "B" cut of 19.89. Freshman Kerrington Hill placed fourth in 20.85.
D'Innocenzo posted his first of two wins on the day in the 400 individual medley, where he was victorious with a NCAA "B" cut of 3:50.77. Senior Bryan Collins placed third in 3:56.30. Livingston notched his first diving win of the day in the one-meter event with 372.52 points. Freshman Will Chandler added a fourth-place total of 296.85 points.
Caskey paced Texas with a second-place time of 1:46.68 in the 200 butterfly, good for a NCAA "B" cut, before Feigen added his second win with a top time of 43.90 in the 100 freestyle. Dax Hill took second in 44.82. Freshman Patrick Murphy led a one-two-three Texas finish in the 200 backstroke, where he was victorious in 1:48.11. Junior Hayes Johnson took a close second in 1:48.36, and Collins placed third in 1:49.23.
Jostes and McBroom paced a second-and-third showing for Texas in the 500 freestyle with times of 4:25.98 and 4:30.45, respectively. Livingston went on to complete his afternoon diving sweep with a winning total of 399.90 points in the three-meter event. D'Innocenzo put the finishing touches on a solid weekend of swimming, as he took first in the 200 breaststroke with a NCAA "B" cut of 1:58.66. Friedland took second in 2:00.99.
Texas capped the meet with an exhibition swim in the 400 freestyle relay. Jostes, junior Donald Sutton, sophomore Madison Gibson and freshman Miles Joye finished in 3:04.03.
The Longhorns resume competition on Friday, Jan. 28 when they host Arizona in a two-day meet at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
