Jesset, Men's Cross Country wins Concordia Invitational

CEDAR PARK, Texas -- The Texas Men's Cross Country B team took first place in the 5K Concordia Invitational Saturday morning at Cedar Park High School in Cedar Park, Texas with sophomore CJ Jessett winning the individual title.
It marked the second straight year the Longhorns have taken home the title in the race hosted by Concordia University. This time UT beat out El Paso Community College for the top spot, winning by 17 points.
"We have been training well and came out and did what we knew he needed to do to win," said CJ Jessett. "It was really impressive what our team was able to do in Wisconsin yesterday and we followed that up with a win today."
Jessett won the race with a time of 15:20.17. Also finishing in the top 10 for Texas were Kevin Rayes , John McNamara and Kyle Thompson. Rayes was fourth with a time of 15:39.28, McNamara was ninth with a time of 15:54.06 and Thompson was 10th with a time of 15:54.83. Also scoring for the Longhorns was Phil Wood, who came in 20th overall with a time of 16:17.05.
