Lee-Bentham tied for lead at Bruin Wave Invitational

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. -- Texas freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham fired her second-consecutive sub-par round at the Bruin Wave Invitational on Tuesday to climb atop the leaderboard for hold a share of the second-round lead at 3-under-par 141. Lee-Bentham is tied for first place with UCLA's Stephanie Kono (70-71). As a team, the Longhorns (303-298) remained in fifth place at 25-over 601.
One day after firing the first sub-par round of her collegiate career, Lee-Bentham attacked the 6,282-yard Robinson Ranch Valley Course with three birdies and a lone bogey to result in a season-low 2-under. She birdied two of the par-3 holes - seven and 14 - and also the 522-yard par-5 fourth hole. Lee-Bentham's fifth bogey through 36 holes occurred on the 17th hole where she previously carded one of her five opening-round birdies.
Sophomore Madison Pressel (76-72) notched an even-par 72 and improved to a tie for 11th place at 6-over 148. Pressel leads the Longhorns this season with five rounds at par or better and has contributed to the team score in all 14 rounds played.
Sophomore Haley Stephens (76-79) is tied for 41st at 11-over 155 and sophomore Katelyn Sepmoree (80-77=157, +13) is two strokes back and tied for 50th place. Junior Nicole Vandermade (87-80=167, +23) rounds out the team in a tie for 77th.
UCLA (281-294) remains atop the team leaderboard after two rounds with a 1-under 575. Pepperdine (296-288=584, +8) and Arizona (292-295=587, +11) are in second and third places, respectively.
The Longhorns return to action Wednesday morning for the final round of the Bruin Wave Invitational at 10 a.m. Central. They will play alongside fourth-place San Diego State and sixth-place Stanford in 10-minute pairings off the first hole.
