SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Texas carded a 17-over-par 305 in the final round of The Battle at Rancho Bernardo to tie for eighth in the 17-team field Tuesday at the Championship Course at Rancho Bernardo Inn Golf Resort & Spa. Junior Nicole Vandermade (74-77-72) led the Longhorns on the individual leaderboard with a tie for 13th-place finish at 7-over 221.
Vandermade's final-round scorecard was her cleanest of the season with 16 pars, one birdie and a lone bogey. After making her fifth birdie of the three-round affair on the par-5, 505-yard 12th hole, Vandermade played at 1-under until bogeying the 395-yard, par-4 16th hole. She made pars on the remaining two holes for her fifth par-or-better round of the season. The Battle at Rancho Bernardo marks Vandermade's fifth tournament of the season to record three-straight rounds in the 70s.
Freshman Rebecca Lee-Bentham (77-73-77) finished in a tie for 25th place at 11-over 227. Lee-Bentham was playing in UT's No. 1 position on the heels of a season-best and team-best tie for fourth place at the Bruin Wave Invitational (Feb. 28 - March 2).
