Andersen, Corrie advance in NCAA doubles draw

STANFORD, Calif. - Texas junior Jean Andersen and senior Ed Corrie won their opening-round doubles match to secure a spot in the round of 16 Thursday at the NCAA Championships.
Andersen and Corrie posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Cal Poly's Andre Dome and Alexander Sonesson in the round of 32 in the doubles draw. The Texas tandem will meet either the Duke duo of Reid Carleton and Henrique Cunha or the Mississippi tandem of Chris Thiemann and Marcel Thiemann in Friday's round-of-16 match.
Texas senior Kellen Damico retired in the second set of his match against Tennessee's Tennys Sandgren and suffered a 7-6 (4), 4-3 (ret.) defeat in the round of 32. Damico had advanced on Wednesday with a straight-sets win over Binghamton's Sven Vloedgraven.
