Dumais takes fourth in three-meter synchro at FINA World Championships

SHANGHAI - Texas-Ex Troy Dumais placed fourth in the men's three-meter synchronized diving event Tuesday at the 2011 FINA World Championships.
Representing the United States, Dumais and teammate Kristian Ipsen totaled 429.06 points on their way to a fourth-place finish in the 12-team finals session. Dumais and Ipsen totaled a meet-best 87.72 points on their fourth dive, a forward two-and-a-half somersault with two twists.
China's Qin Kai and Luo Yutong won the gold with 463.98 points, and Russia's Ilya Zakharov and Evgeny Kuznetsov claimed the silver with 451.89 points. Mexico's Yahel Castillo and Julian Sanchez took the bronze with 437.61 points, less than 10 points ahead of Dumais and Ipsen.
Dumais, a three-time U.S. Olympian, will open the individual three-meter competition on Thursday in Shanghai. Dumais won the silver medal in the three-meter event at the 2009 FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy.
