No. 8 Volleyball rolls past TCU

The eighth-ranked Texas Volleyball team went in to a hostile University Rec Center and swept past previously unbeaten TCU, Tuesday night in its final non-conference match. The 25-16, 25-15, 25-19 moved the Longhorns to 7-3 on the season and dropped the Horned Frogs to 13-1.Senior All-America middle blocker Rachael Adams led the Horns' attack with 11 kills on .471 hitting and added three blocks in the win. Freshman outside hitter Khat Bell joined her in double digits with 10 kills, while sophomore opposite hitter Bailey Webster posted nine kills on .692 hitting.
Texas broke the first frame open with a 5-0 run fueled by a block and a kill from freshman middle blocker Madelyn Hutson that gave UT a 19-12 advantage. TCU narrowed the margin to four before a 5-0 rally paced by two blocks and a kill by Hutson closed out the set 25-16.
Midway through the second stanza, the Horns broke a 10 all tie with an 8-2 run capped by a kill from Adams that put UT ahead, 18-12. Texas went on to close out the set courtesy of two Hutson blocks and a pair of aces by Bell that sealed the set 25-15.
After a tight battle in the early going, Texas put together a 6-0 run highlighted by three Eckerman kills late in the set to take a 22-15 lead. A solo block by Webster forced set point and Adams' 11th kill of the night ended the set 25-19.
Texas returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 when it hosts Kansas in its Big 12 opener. First serve is set for 4 p.m. Central on Longhorn Network.
POST-MATCH NOTE
- Texas' win moved its all-time record against TCU to 3-0 and 1-0 in Fort Worth.
