No. 9 Volleyball falls to No. 6 Louisville at Broadway Block Party

Longhorns drop three-set decision to Cardinals in Nashville.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – No. 9 Texas Volleyball fell to No. 6 Louisville in three sets, 25-12, 28-26, 25-16, on Sunday morning at the Broadway Block Party at Bridgestone Arena.
Torrey Stafford led the Longhorns with 14 kills and 10 digs for her second double-double of the season. Cari Spears added 12 kills, while Nya Bunton finished with five kills and three blocks. Rella Binney recorded 27 assists and seven digs for Texas, which fell to 3-3 on the season.
Louisville (5-1) jumped out to an early lead in the opening set and used a pair of blocks to build a 13-7 advantage. The Cardinals continued to extend their lead and took the first set, 25-12.
Texas battled back in the second set, overcoming an early Louisville lead to take a 10-9 advantage on a Stafford kill. The Longhorns later built a 22-20 lead following an Anderson tap kill and went ahead 24-22 after a Louisville service error. The Cardinals answered with three straight points to take a 25-24 lead before Stafford delivered a kill to tie the set at 26-26. Louisville scored the next two points, including a block to close out the set, 28-26, and take a 2-0 lead.
Stafford opened the third set with a cross-court kill, but Louisville responded with a 5-1 run to take control. Texas trimmed the deficit to 9-7 after back-to-back Spears kills, but the Cardinals continued to build their advantage. Louisville closed the match on a 4-0 run to win the set, 25-16, and complete the sweep.
Next up, Texas will travel to Dallas for its first true road match of the season, facing No. 8 SMU at Moody Coliseum. The match will be broadcast live on ACC Network, with first serve set for 8 p.m. CT.
