Men's Swimming and Diving holds Orange-White meet

AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas Men's Swimming and Diving squad split into two teams on Thursday for the annual Orange-White meet at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
In 2011 it was the Orange team that got the best of the intra-squad meet as they defeated the White team, 149.5-131.5. Overall, eight events were won by participants of the Orange team including both diving events. The White squad finished first in seven events, including the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Senior Matt Cooper won both the one- and three-meter diving titles with scores of 285.75 and 313.65, respectively, to lead the Orange team. Junior Nick D'Innocenzo finished first in both the 200-yard IM and 200-yard breaststroke events. Also winning events for the Orange team were Cole Cragin (100-yard backstroke), Clay Youngquist (200-yard freestyle), Kerrington Hill (50-yard freestyle) and Neil Caskey (200-yard butterfly).
The White team was led by senior Jackson Wilcox in the long distance events. He won the 1,000-yard freestyle and then came back later on to take first in the 500-yard freestyle. Two of the first three events were won by members of the White squad with Eric Friedland winning the 100-yard breaststroke and Woody Joye claiming the 100-yard butterfly title. The other two players for the White team with victories were Dax Hill (100-yard freestyle) and Patrick Murphy (200-yard backstroke).
The Longhorns start the 2011-12 season on Oct. 28 when they compete in the two-day Mansfield Invitational in Mansfield, Texas.
