CEDAR PARK, Texas - For the third consecutive season, No. 22 Texas men's cross country won the Concordia Invitational held on the campus of Cedar Park High School and hosted by Concordia University.
With 27 team points, Texas defeated Division I opponents Texas-Pan American (32) and Texas State (66).
Four Longhorns finished in the top six in the 5K race, led by senior John McNamara's first-place finish of 15:36.66. Less than a second separated McNamara and junior Kevin Rayes, who finished with a time of 15:37.03. It was the first race of the season for both runners.
Senior CJ Jessett finished fourth (15:58.28), sophomore Kyle Thompson placed sixth (16:24.03), freshman David Anamosa finished 14th (17:07.45) and freshman Shaun Van der Walt finished 15th (17:30.91).
Texas returns to the course on Oct. 27 for the Big 12 Cross Country Championships at Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin, Texas.
