Gray named to CFPA Freshman Performer of the Year watch list

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Texas running back Johnathan Gray was named to the 2012 National Freshman Performer of the Year watch list in an announcement Thursday by the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA).
Gray is second on the team, as well as second among Big 12 Conference freshmen, in rushing with 316 yards. He posted career highs of 14 carries and 87 yards against West Virginia on Oct. 6. Gray scored his first-career touchdown on a 25-yard run against Baylor on Oct. 20.
Gray is one of 28 players, including 10 running backs and just four Big 12 players, on the list.
Previous winners of the award include Braxton Miller (2011-Ohio State), Marcus Lattimore (2010-South Carolina) and LaMichael James (2009-Oregon).
The winner will be announced at the end of the season.
