No. 7 Volleyball wins 13th straight with 3-0 sweep at TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Freshman middle blocker Molly McCage had a season-high 10 kills while hitting .833 (10-0-12) while sophomore All-America outside hitter Haley Eckerman had 14 kills and 17 digs Wednesday as the No. 7 Texas Longhorns earned a 3-0 sweep on the road against the TCU Horned Frogs (25-17, 25-16, 25-17). Texas (19-3, 11-0) picked up its 13th straight win as the team hit .423 for the match.
Junior setter Hannah Allison had 43 assists with two kills and four blocks while junior All-America Bailey Webster hit .577 on 15 kills without a hitting error (15-0-26). Khat Bell added seven kills and five blocks.
Mattie Burleson had nine kills for TCU (13-10, 2-8) as the Horned Frogs were held to a .158 hitting performance.
Back-to-back hitting errors by the Longhorns sparked a run of four straight points with TCU taking a 10-7 lead in the first set. Khat Bell would spark a run of eight straight points as Texas took the lead, 17-12. Eckerman later added an ace, followed by a combo block from McCage and Allison to win the first set.
UT hit .486 in the second set as a 15-1 run in the middle of the set paved the way to a 2-0 lead in the match. Eckerman figured in the Longhorns' final three kills of the set. Bell used back-to-back terminations to take a 14-11 lead in set three. McCage had four kills as Texas closed out the match with an 8-1 run.
Texas returns home to play its third match in six days on Friday (Nov. 2) against No. 16 Kansas State in a 7 p.m. match that will be broadcast on Longhorn Network. A live audio webcast along with Gametracker live stats will be available on TexasSports.com and a live Twitter feed @TexasVolleyball.
Notes: This is the sixth straight season that Texas has recorded a streak of 13 or more wins...Molly McCage registered season highs in kills (10) and points (10.5)...Haley Eckerman had three aces in a match for the fourth time this season...Khat Bell has recorded one solo block in five straight matches...Texas needs one more win to tie the best start in conference play under head coach Jerritt Elliott as the 2009 team opened with a 12-0 start.
