Haley Eckerman named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Volleyball sophomore Haley Eckerman (Waterloo, Iowa) has been named Big 12 Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. She earned the honor for the second time this season and fourth time in her career. She now has nine career conference awards after also earning five Rookie of the Week distinctions last season.
Eckerman recorded 32 kills (5.33) while hitting .286 with one assist, two aces, 17 digs, two blocks and 35.0 points (5.83) in two 3-0 Texas wins. The Longhorns improved to 6-0 in Big 12 play with a home victory over TCU on Wednesday and a road win over No. 14 Kansas State on Saturday. Eckerman totaled a team-high 13 kills while hitting .171 with six digs against TCU. On Saturday in Manhattan, she recorded her first career double-double with 19 kills while hitting .417 with 11 digs, one ace and one block. The sophomore leads the league in points in conference-only matches (5.42) and overall contests (5.30) and also ranks first in kills in overall matches (4.54).
No. 9 Texas plays a non-conference match tonight at No. 17 Louisville.
