Feigen, Weber-Gale help USA to gold at FINA Short Course Worlds

ISTANBUL - Texas-Exes Jimmy Feigen and Garrett Weber-Gale helped the United States win gold in the 400-meter freestyle relay Wednesday on day one of the FINA Short Course World Championships.
Feigen joined Anthony Ervin, Ryan Lochte and Matt Grevers in the event's finals to win gold for the United States in 3 minutes, 6.40 seconds. Feigen completed the relay's third leg in 47.25 seconds, which ranked second among his counterparts on the relay's third leg. Italy won the silver medal in 3:07.07, while Australia won the bronze medal in 3:07.27.
Feigen and Weber-Gale competed in the event's preliminary round, where they helped the United States qualify second in 3:08.90. Weber-Gale split 46.99 on the relay's second leg, and Feigen anchored the relay in 46.90.
Feigen helped the U.S. to silver in the 400m freestyle relay at the London Olympics. Weber-Gale won gold medals in the 400m freestyle relay and the 400m medley relay at the Beijing Olympics.
Texas-Ex Michael Klueh is set to compete alongside Weber-Gale on Thursday in the 800m freestyle relay.
The FINA Short Course World Championships are conducted in a 25m pool rather than the 50m pool utilized at the Olympics and traditional World Championship meets.
