Kristin Cummins named to NSCAA Scholar All-South Region Second Team

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Soccer senior Kristin Cummins was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-South Region Second Team, the organization announced this week. Cummins is the first Longhorn to earn NSCAA Scholar honors since Stephanie Logterman (first team) and Jill Gilbeau (honorable mention) in 2008.
Cummins, who owns a 3.48 grade-point average as a government major, received her third Academic All-Big 12 First Team accolade earlier this fall. The Lewisville, Texas, product started every match of her career and is a five-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll pick. Prior to her final campaign, she was nominated for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award.
At the end of the 2012 season, Cummins became UT's first All-Big 12 First-Team selection since 2008. She paced the Longhorns with 12 points, two game-winning goals and 22 shots on goal while standing second in assists (four), goals (four) and shots (41).
Against Big 12 Conference competition, Cummins ranked second on the squad with 18 shots and tallied one goal and an assist.
After scoring twice and assisting on another goal in Texas' season-opening 3-2 overtime victory over Dayton, Cummins was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com and Soccer America Teams of the Week. She also earned a place on the TopDrawerSoccer.com Midseason Big 12 Top 20 Team and on the organization's Top 100 Upperclassmen list.
