Blaire Luna Named Big 12 Pitcher Of The Week

AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Softball junior right-hander Blaire Luna (Austin, Texas/Bowie HS) was named Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week today after registering two wins last week for the Longhorns. It's the ninth time in Luna's career that she has garnered conference pitching accolades.
She gave up only one earned run in 11 innings of work, striking out 17 batters. Against then-No. 10 Tennessee, Luna struck out 13 batters (one shy of her season best) in the Longhorns' 3-2 win. It was the third time she has posted double-digit strikeouts in a game this season. She currently ranks fourth among Big 12 pitchers with 43 strikeouts and is 4-0 this season with a 0.29 ERA.
Texas is currently ranked No. 8 in the nation and travels to the Cathedral City Classic in California this weekend with three of its five games being played against Top 25 competition: No. 1 Florida, No. 7 UCLA and No. 22 Nebraska.
