HONOLULU - Junior designated player Taylor Hoagland belted two home runs in a game for the first time in her career Friday as the No. 6 Texas Longhorns defeated the Winthrop Eagles, 9-2, to conclude Spring Fling Tournament action. The Longhorns finished with a 4-1 record in this week's tournament and improved to 23-2 overall. Hoagland is now fourth all-time at Texas with 31 career homers and needs five to tie the school mark of 36, held by Amy Hooks (2008-11).

Courtney Craig gave Texas a 1-0 lead in the first with a sacrifice fly to score Washington from third. Hoagland opened the top of the third with a line drive homer over the fence in left center. Washington singled, advanced to second on a passed ball and moved to third on Bennett's fly ball to right. Craig would again hit a sacrifice fly for the 3-0 lead.
Chelsey Schoenfeldt hit an RBI double in the bottom of the third to give Winthrop (11-14) its first run of the game, but the Longhorns would answer with three in the top of the fourth as Hoagland hit her second homer, a two-run shot to left center.
