No. 9 Volleyball records 3-0 Big 12 sweep at Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas--Junior All-American Bailey Webster had 14 kills while hitting .344 (14-3-32) and a season-high five blocks Saturday as the No. 9 Texas Longhorns swept the Texas Tech Red Raiders (25-16, 25-23, 25-22) in a Big 12 match. The Longhorns (11-3, 4-0) used 14 blocks in the match, holding the Red Raiders to a .116 hitting clip.
Haley Eckerman added 10 kills and tied a season best with three service aces. Junior setter Hannah Allison recorded 32 assists, six digs and a season-high five blocks. Freshman middle blocker Molly McCage tied her season high with a team-high eight blocks.
Miara Cave had 12 kills for Texas Tech (11-7, 0-3).
The Longhorns hit .500 in the first set. Eckerman's ace gave the Longhorns an 11-5 lead. UT would finish the set with six more blocks to cruise to the first-set victory. Texas Tech battled back in the second set. The Red Raiders held at 9-6 lead before Texas used a 9-3 run to retake the lead. Breeann David's kill on the overpass got Texas Tech within one, 21-20. Back-to-back hitting errors by the Longhorns gave a 23-22 advantage to the Red Raiders before Texas scored three straight as Webster went crosscourt to the set winner.
In set three, the Longhorns needed to hold off a Red Raider rally again late. UT broke a 21-21 tie with a 4-1 run as Khat Bell and Sha'Dare McNeal's block sealed the victory.
