Post-Match Quotes
Texas head coach Jerritt Elliott
Opening statement: Obviously, we are disappointed in the loss. We tried a new lineup and thought we were going to do some good things with it, but we couldn't get any continuity early on. Minnesota did a good job putting pressure on us. They were efficient and we were very deficient in our defense and blocking. We gave ourselves a chance to battle back in sets three and four. We had a swing to tie and win set four, but we didn't take advantage of it. Just disappointed in a lot of areas, but we will get back and have been trying to mix with our lineup a little bit and haven't had a whole lot of time to train. We will go back and watch the tape tonight. We will try to make some adjustments for tomorrow and be ready to play them again tomorrow.
On thoughts about Minnesota senior outside hitter Katherine Harms: She is good and we knew that. I thought we did a better job in sets three and four, but then she got hot again in set four. She hurt us early and we knew we had to key in on her and be all over her. She moved the ball around, attacked well, and we just have to do a better job with our block. We are reaching high and she was going underneath us, hitting different angles, and we will go back and watch that.
Sophomore outside hitter Haley Eckerman
On what the team was thinking going into set four after clinching set three: I think we all felt that we needed to continue to do the individual things to work towards the win. We just didn't get that chance to continue the push.
On difference from first two games to last two games: Minnesota is a good team and I think we just weren't fully prepared. We were prepared, but not mentally there at the beginning of the set.
Junior outside hitter Bailey Webster
On feeling the aftermath effects from Penn State loss tonight: No. I think that in the beginning of the match, we were lacking aggression and that's what gets you there. Aggression and energy and when that dies, it is really hard to just play off your athletic ability. So that whole set, we were fighting just to come back and making it hard on ourselves just made it difficult.
