Hall and Lutz lead Cross Country at Wisconsin adidas Invitational

Marielle Hall crossed third of 288 in the women’s 6,000m; Lutz posts 14th-place finish of 287 in the men’s 8,000m.

MADISON, Wis. – Texas Cross Country competed in the fifth-annual Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19 in Madison, Wis., at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course.
All-American Marielle Hall tallied the Longhorns' top performance of the day with a third-place finish out of 288 runners in the women's 6,000-meter race with a personal-best time of 19:46. Fellow All-American Craig Lutz led the way for the Longhorns on the men's side, crossing the 8,000m finish line 14th overall in a field of 287 with a time of 23:36.
The 15th-ranked Texas men were one of 36 teams in the competition. UT finished with 469 points, landing in 18th place. Lutz was followed by Ryan Dohner in 44th (23:57) and Chris Galvin in 85th (24:15, 84 points). Rounding out the scoring were Mark Pinales, who finished 167th (24:42, 160 points), and Austin Roth in 173rd (24:43, 165 points).
Will Nation (182nd, 24:49), Brady Turnbull (199th, 24:56), Eduardo Rodriguez (200th, 24:56) and Collin Smith (216th, 25:05) also raced for the Longhorns on Saturday.
The No. 29 Texas women placed 26th with 629 points. After Hall were Megan Siebert, who crossed in the 76th spot with a time of 20:56, and Brittany Marches, who was 158th (21:31, 156 points). Kaleigh Ervin came in 181st in 21:41 (174 points) and Katie Ruhala completed UT's scoring in 238th (22:10, 220 points).
Alaina Perez (245th, 22:17), Connor Ward (267th, 22:47), Hannah Novelli (274th, 23:01) and Katie Burford (275th, 23:01) also ran.
Northern Arizona won the men's team competition with 121 points. Arizona finished with 117 points in the women's race, earning first place, and featured four runners in the top-25.
Arkansas' Kemoy Campbell and Dartmouth's Abbey D'Agostino were the men's and women's individual champions, respectively.
The Longhorns enter the championships portion of their season following this weekend's meet. The Big 12 Championships will be held Saturday, Nov. 2 and the NCAA South Central Region meet will follow on Friday, Nov. 15, with both meets being hosted by Baylor in Waco. The NCAA Championships will take place Saturday, Nov. 23, in Terre Haute, Ind.
