Junior outside hitter Haley Eckerman earns her second national player of the week honor.
LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Texas Volleyball junior outside hitter Haley Eckerman has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon. The honor is the second of Eckerman's collegiate career, coming nearly one year following her first national weekly accolade on Nov. 20, 2012.
On Saturday, Eckerman recorded her sixth double-double vs. then-No. 24 Kansas with a season-high 25 kills and 13 digs. The All-American led all Big 12 players for the week with 6.25 kills and 6.88 points per set. She was the only league player to average over six kills per set on the week. Additionally, Eckerman hit .333 against the Jayhawks with just five errors on 60 swings. The Longhorns moved to 11-0 in league play and won their 14th straight match behind Eckerman's offensive production.
This is the eighth time a student-athlete from Texas has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week.
No. 1 Texas returns to action Saturday, Nov. 16, at Texas Tech for a 1 p.m. conference contest.
