STILLWATER, Okla. - Brendan McCurry picked up his second save of the day Saturday as the Oklahoma State Cowboys won a Big 12 series over the Texas Longhorns with the 5-4 victory at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. OSU (21-6, 3-2) registered the 8-3 decision earlier today as both teams resumed a halted game from Friday night due to a thunderstorm.
Texas drops to 16-11 on the season and 2-4 in Big 12 play. Freshman shortstop C.J Hinojosa went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI for the Longhorns while Nathan Thornhill took the loss after going 7 1/3 innings. Thornhill gave up five runs, but only one was earned after OSU tallied four unearned runs in the first.
Saulyer Saxon hit a one-out single in the first, moving to third on Tanner Krietemeier's double. After Thornhill struck out Zach Fish, Victor Romero drew a walk to load the bases. Randy McCurry then hit a ground ball to third that Erich Weiss was unable to get as two runs scored. Robbie Rea then laced a two-run double to right for a four-run first for the Cowboys.
Hinojosa led off the Texas second with a 1-1 fly ball down the line, hitting the foul pole in right for his second homer in as many games. The Longhorns added a run in the third and fourth innings to cut the deficit to one, 4-3.
OSU made it 5-3 in the fourth on Donnie Walton's double, scoring Rea. Texas would get a run in the seventh with Hinojosa's ground out scoring Weiss from third, but the Oklahoma State bullpen would shut down the Longhorns with 2 1/3 perfect innings to finish off the series.
Texas opens a five-game homestand on Tuesday (April 2) with a 7 p.m. game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before a Big 12 series next weekend against Oklahoma. Tuesday's game will be shown live on Longhorn Network with radio on AM 1300 The Zone. Gametracker live stats will be available on TexasSports.com with live Twitter updates @Texas_Baseball.

Texas stranded a season-high 13 batters, including leaving the bases loaded twice without scoring a run. Dillon Peters (1-2) took the loss after giving up four runs (two earned) in 3 2/3 innings. He allowed two hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
Vince Wheeland improved to 6-0 on the season with 3 2/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts.
Zach Fish doubled Robbie Rea to third in the OSU first. Randy McCurry then singled home Fish and Rea for the early 2-0 lead. After a passed ball moved McCurry to second, Victor Romero hit a fly ball that Texas left fielder Ben Johnson could not handle as the error made it 3-0 for the Cowboys.
Hinojosa belted his first collegiate home run to lead off the second inning. Johnson delivered an RBI single in the fourth for the 3-2 score, but the Cowboys would answer with a run in the bottom half of the inning as Hinojosa's throwing error scored a run to give OSU the 4-2 advantage.
UT scored a run in the eighth, but OSU center fielder Jarrett Higgins made a defensive gem with two outs to rob Payton of an extra-base hit. Higgins used a two-run double to spark a four-run eighth for Oklahoma State to put the game away.
