No. 16 Women's Golf tied for third place after day one at Farms Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. -- The No. 16 Texas Women's Golf team carded an opening-round score of 15-over-par 303 on Easter Sunday at the Farms Invitational to finish the day tied for third place. Seniors Desiree Dubreuil and Madison Pressel led the Longhorns with a pair of team-best 75s at The Farms Club Club and are tied for 13th place.
Playing in the No. 3 position for the Longhorns, Dubreuil climbed to 2-over through six holes with a pair of bogeys on the 12th and 15th holes. Her first birdie of the day came on No. 17, but she regained a stroke with another bogey on the fourth hole. Dubreuil sank a second birdie at No. 6 to dip to -1, but a double bogey on her next-to-last hole resulted in the 3-over scorecard.
Like Dubreuil, Pressel had a pair of birdies in her round that came on Nos. 18 and 5. She had five bogeys on the day, including a final one on the closing hole.
Sophomore Bertine Strauss finished one stroke behind her senior teammates at 4-over 76 and is tied for 19th place. Senior Katelyn Sepmoree (77) and freshman Tezira Abe (78) round out the Texas contingent in ties for 25th and 35th places, respectively. Freshman Natalie Karcher is tied for 25th place at 5-over 77alongside Sepmoree while competing as an individual.
Top-ranked Southern California leads the 15-team field at 10-over 298. UNLV is four strokes back and Pepperdine is in the two-way tie for third place with Texas.
