Men's Track and Field news and notes

Fresh off winning its fifth Big 12 Conference Outdoor title, the No. 6 Men's Track and Field team will not compete until serving as host to the NCAA West Preliminary Round on May 23-25.

The team is currently practicing and in the midst of finals which end Tuesday.

Signees to Compete at Texas State Meet: A number of signees for the 2013-14 academic year will compete on Friday and Saturday at the UIL Texas State Track & Field Championship at Mike A. Myers Stadium. Here is the list of future Horns in action:

- Carlton Anumnu (Stafford High School - 4A): 100 meters
- Logan Brittain (Canyon Randall High School - 4A): high jump, long jump
- Craig Irvin (The Woodlands - 5A): 3,200 meters
- Wolf Mahler (Belton High School - 5A): 400 meters, pole vault
- Spencer McCloud (Argyle High School - 3A): high jump
- Parks McNeil (Kerrville Tivy High School - 4A): pole vault
- Robert Uhr (Lockhart High School - 4A): 800 meter run

All-Big 12 Honors: A number of Longhorns collected All-Big 12 honors for finishing among the top eight at the league outdoor meet and earning points for the team. Isaac Murphy led the way by scoring in four events, while 10 members of the team scored in at least two events. Here is the complete list:

Texas on the 2013 NCAA West Regional Performers List: Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective event earn berths into the NCAA West Preliminary Round, which will be held May 23-25 at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The best 24 relay times will also advance to NCAA prelims. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West prelims will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. There is no decathlon competition at the NCAA prelims. The top 24 decathlon marks in the nation earn an automatic berth to the NCAAs. The Longhorns have 26 athletes ranked among the top 48 in the West in 16 events. In addition, Johannes Hock has the top decathlon mark in the nation (8,293) and Isaac Murphy ranks sixth (7,758). The official entry list for the NCAA West Preliminary Round will be announced Monday.
