The No. 10 Texas Women's Track & Field team continues its journey through the outdoor championships season, gearing up for the NCAA West Preliminary Round, which will take place May 23-25 in Austin.

2013-14 SIGNEE UPDATE
Three members of UT's 2013-14 signing class are competing in this weekend's UIL Texas State Track & Field Championships in the 4A and 5A divisions: Katie Ruhala (Lovejoy High School) in the 4A 3,200 meters, Mary Beth Hamilton (Highland Park High School) in the 4A 800 meters and Pamela Uchebo (Lubbock High School) in the 4x200-meter relay.

Two more were in postseason action last weekend. Lexie Hood (Hockaday School) placed fifth in the 3,200 meters and sixth in the 1,600 meters at the Southwest Preparatory Conference meet at Episcopal High School in Bellaire, Texas. Incoming graduate student Olivia Mickle, who is currently competing for Brown University, ran to a runner-up finish in the 10,000 meters at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championship in a school-record time of 33:29.85. Mickle also placed third in the 5,000 meters in 16:21.29, the second-best time in program history.

ALL-BIG 12 HONORS
The Longhorns picked up a total of 32 All-Big 12 First Team honors at last weekend's league outdoor meet at Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex in Waco. Texas was led on the weekend by championships from Shanay Briscoe (high jump), Kaitlin Petrillose (pole vault), Morgan Snow (100-meter hurdles) and Sara Sutherland (1,500 meters). Danielle Dowie, Chalonda Goodman, Courtney Okolo and Alicia Peterson each scored in three events to contribute to UT's runner-up finish.

TEXAS ON THE 2013 WEST REGIONAL PERFORMERS LIST
Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective individual event earn berths into the NCAA West Preliminary Round, which will be held May 23-25 at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The best 24 relay times will also advance to NCAA prelims. Athletes with the top 12 times/marks and the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West prelims will qualify for the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. The official entry list for the NCAA West Preliminary Round will be announced Monday.
