AUSTIN, Texas - No. 11 Texas Women's Track & Field added qualifiers for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in five events on Saturday to close out the NCAA West Preliminary Round at Mike A. Myers Stadium. The tally brought UT's three-day total to 12 entries across 10 events for the national meet, which will be held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
The Longhorns saw individual advances in the 100-meter hurdles, 200 meters and 5,000 meters as well as in both the 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays.
Senior Chalonda Goodman picked up her second individual qualification of the weekend with a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters (23.28 seconds) after earning a spot in the national semifinal of the 100 meters on Friday.
Goodman also teamed up with sophomore Morgan Snow and juniors Danielle Dowie and Briana Nelson on UT's 4x100-meter relay squad, which qualified fourth for nationals. The team crossed in 43.96, the second-fastest time for the Longhorns in 2013, with Nelson competing with the group for the first time this season on the third leg.
Snow landed an automatic spot in the 100m hurdles semifinal for her second straight outdoor season by running a 13.09, second best in the third heat and fourth overall.
After both advancing to NCAA Outdoors in individual events on Friday, Nelson and Dowie closed out the meet in Texas' 4x400m relay alongside freshman Courtney Okolo and senior Kendra Chambers. The team tallied a 3:29.94, the top time in the third heat and second-fastest overall, for the auto qualification.
Okolo, who will also race in the 400m in Eugene, narrowly missed moving on in the 200m out of Saturday's quarterfinal, placing 13th with a time of 23.69.
Texas will also have distance representation after Mia Behm completed the 5,000m in 16:11.75 to qualify on time out of the second heat. The fifth-year senior advances to the second NCAA outdoor meet of her career in the event after finishing 18th during her sophomore season in 2010.
