NEW ORLEANS - Coming off a victory at last weekend's Big 12 Conference Outdoor Championships, the Longhorns have moved up to No. 6 in the Division I U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Computer Rankings.
Texas has been at No. 8 in recent weekly rankings, but had an impressive total of 146.50 points to out-distance the rival Oklahoma Sooners (133) at the three-day meet at Baylor to improve two spots, the biggest jump among top 10 teams.
The win earned the Longhorns a sweep of the Big 12 indoor and outdoor titles for the third time in school history (1999 and 2006).
That resulted in a 43.89 net gain in the computer rankings and gives Texas a 193.61 team score, the most by any league team.
The Longhorns are off until May 23-25 when they serve as host to the NCAA West Preliminary Round.
