AUSTIN, Texas - The Texas Women's Track & Field team is scheduled to compete 12 entries in 10 events at the 2013 Division I NCAA Outdoor Championships, which will be held June 5-8 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
The Longhorns, ranked No. 12 in the USTFCCCA computer poll, are led by senior Chalonda Goodman and juniors Danielle Dowie and Briana Nelson, each of whom advanced in three events. Also qualifying out of the NCAA West Preliminary Round were freshman Courtney Okolo, sophomores Morgan Snow and Kaitlin Petrillose, junior Shanay Briscoe and seniors Mia Behm, Natasha Masterson and Kendra Chambers.
WHERE THEY RANK
Of the Longhorns' 12 championship-qualifying marks, seven rank within scoring range in the top eight overall out of the NCAA East and West Preliminary Rounds. Texas is led by its 4x400-meter relay squad of Chambers, Dowie, Nelson and Okolo, which earned the No. 2 seed with a time of 3 minutes, 29.94 seconds out of the NCAA West Region. UT also has a pair of No. 4 seeds in Dowie (400m hurdles, 56.68) and Petrillose (pole vault, 4.11m), while the 4x100m relay team of Snow, Nelson, Dowie and Goodman comes in at No. 5 (43.96).

TEXAS AT THE NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
UT has won the outdoor NCAA meet as a team four times in program history, most recently in 2005. The Longhorns last took home event titles in 2009, when Alex Anderson won the 100 meters in 11.20, Destinee Hooker cleared 6-4.75 to win high jump and Judy Nwosu, Angele Cooper, Anderson and Chantel Malone took home the 4x400m relay crown with a time of 3:28.57.
POLE VAULT DUO LOOKS TO BREAK NEW GROUND
Masterson will join Petrillose in pole vault seeded sixth, and collectively the duo will seek to become the first Longhorns to score points in an NCAA meet in UT program history. Petrillose narrowly missed accomplishing the feat during the 2013 indoor season, placing 10th at the NCAA meet in March. It will be Masterson's first appearance of her collegiate career at an NCAA Championship meet after she narrowly missed qualifying outdoors in 2012 when she was edged in a jump-off at regionals.
OKOLO MAKING HER MARK
Also making her inaugural appearance at NCAA Outdoors is Okolo, who enters nationals seeded sixth (52.04) in the 400 meters. Already having established herself at ninth outdoors and tied for eighth indoors in the event on UT's All-Time Performers list, Okolo is the only freshman to have advanced to Eugene in the 400 out of the West Region.
