Four current Baseball players selected in 2013 Major League Baseball draft

Junior third baseman Erich Weiss picked in the 11th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
AUSTIN, Texas - A total of four current Texas Baseball players were selected in the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. After pitcher Corey Knebel went 39th overall in day one to the Detroit Tigers, three other Longhorns were selected in yesterday's final day of the draft. Junior third baseman Erich Weiss was picked in the 11th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates, followed by junior outfielder Mark Payton (16th round - Cleveland) and junior pitcher Nathan Thornhill (24th round - Houston).
Five incoming freshmen for the 2014 class were selected in this year's draft: left-handed pitcher Trey Ball (1st round - Boston), right-handed pitcher Blake Goins (12th round - Los Angeles Angels), first baseman/right-handed pitcher Kacy Clemens (35th round - Houston), right-handed pitcher Lukas Schiraldi (35th round - Washington) and infielder Andy McGuire (36th round - Colorado).
