The Track and Field team will make the first of two regular season trips to Albuquerque, N.M., this weekend.
A group of 32 men and women will compete in the two-day Cherry and Silver Collegiate Invitational beginning Friday.
Student-athletes from 31 schools, including Arizona, Arkansas, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Houston South Carolina, Stanford and USC, will be represented.
New Mexico is serving as host to the indoor meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center, site of the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 14-15.
The top-ranked Longhorn women will only send a contingent of 15, including six first-year performers.
All-Americans Danielle Dowie, Kaitlin Petrillose and Shanay Briscoe will make the trip.
Dowie, an All-American in the 400-meter hurdles and 4x400-meter relay, will compete in the 400 and 4x400m relay. Petrillose will try and repeat her pole vault performance of last week when she won the event at the Arkansas dual meet with a clearance of 13 feet, 11 1/4 inches (4.25m), the second-best indoor mark in UT history. Briscoe is a four-time All-American in the high jump. She will participate in that event, as well as the 60-meter hurdles and 4x400m relay.
Eight of the 17 members of the 15th-ranked UT men's travel team will be freshmen, though sophomore Ryan Crouser will make his season debut at the facility he hopes to compete for the 2014 NCAA shot put title. He is the preseason favorite in the event after claiming the 2013 NCAA outdoor crown in June.
Veteran throwers Clint Harris, Blake Jakobsson and Will Spence will also make the trip with each competing in both the shot put and weight throw.
Friday's events start at 5 p.m. Central and Saturday's begin at 11 a.m.
After participating in both the Bill Bergan Invitational (at Iowa State) and Razorback Team Invitational (at Arkansas) the weekend of Jan. 31-Feb. 1, the Longhorns will make a return visit to Albuquerque on Feb. 7-8 for the New Mexico Collegiate Classic.
