Free Kicks:
- During head coach Angela Kelly's three seasons in charge of the Longhorns program, defense has played a big role in the squad's success. Texas owns a 21-5-2 mark when holding opponents under 10 shots in a match. UT was 6-3 in 2012, 8-2-1 in 2013 and is unbeaten at 7-0-1 thus far in 2014 when holding its foes to nine or fewer total shots. This season in those instances, the Horns tied Arizona State (eight shots) and defeated Hawai'i (eight shots), Nevada (nine shots), Texas A&M-CC (three shots), Montana (six shots), Iowa State (six shots), UALR (three shots) and at Oklahoma (six shots).
- Texas owns just a 9-12-1 mark in road matches under head coach Angela Kelly but has seen a recent run of success markedly improve that total. UT is 7-3-1 in its last 11 true road matches, including a 5-2 record in 2014 with wins at Hawai'i (2-1), at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, at Texas State (2-0), at Iowa State (1-0) and at Oklahoma (1-0), but a 2-0 loss at USF and a 3-1 defeat at TCU. In neutral site matches under Kelly, the Longhorns are 2-2-2 with a tie this year against now nationally-ranked Arizona State back in the season-opener in Waipahu, Hi., and a 2-0 loss to UCF on Sept. 12.
- Under the guidance of head coach Angela Kelly, Texas boasts a lot of success when the defense keeps the crooked numbers off the opponent's side of the scoreboard. Since the beginning of the 2012 campaign, the Longhorns have limited the opposition to a single goal or less in 42 of 57 possible matches. In those instances, Texas owns an impressive 28-10-4 overall record and has gone 21-3-3 since beginning the 2013 season.
- TopDrawerSoccer.com has released its lists of what the organization deemed to be its Top 100 Players of the Midseason and the Top 100 Freshmen of 2014. Junior netminder Abby Smith was ranked No. 31 among the Top 100 Players of the Midseason, while forward Olivia Brook made the Top 100 Freshmen list by coming in at No. 96.
- Following the 6-0 rout at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Sept. 5), the 2-0 blanking of Texas State (Sept. 21, the 1-0 (OT) win over #6 Texas Tech (Sept. 26) and the 3-1 loss at TCU (Oct. 17), Texas, under third year head coach Angela Kelly, is 8-5-1 against teams from the state of Texas. UT is a solid 5-1 against Lone Star State squads in the friendly confines of Mike A. Myers Stadium, 3-4 on the road and 0-0-1 at neutral sites. Texas is 3-1-0 this year in such contests and has one more match against an in-state team scheduled for this season (at Baylor).
