Junior Brinkley Field discusses last Friday's NCAA tournament win over Rice
As y'all know, last Monday afternoon we found out that we made the NCAA tournament. Friday came faster than we could've imagined and at 5 o'clock that night, the stage was set to play Rice!
The week leading up to the game was filled with practice, film sessions and general excitement! Finally, 5 o'clock rolled around, and we were ready!
The weather was chilly but so much more bearable than at some of the other games going on around the country. No snow or rain in our forecast! Just a chill and slight wind, but nothing that we couldn't handle!
We beat Rice 3-0 in regulation and when the game ended, we rushed to our fans and parents with nothing but smiles on all of our faces! Soon after running to give hugs to everyone, we rushed inside to warm ourselves up!
After our win, Ange (coach Kelly) told us that we had one more little adventure to go on for the night. We were going to the UT Men's Basketball game and all of us were going to go on the court at halftime, throw out t-shirts and let everyone know about our win! Being that it was the opening game on the UT basketball season, the Frank Erwin Center was packed!! We filed through everyone and made our way down to the court to watch the end of the game before halftime! The guys are SO tall. Texas Soccer looks like tiny people in comparison to them!
Half time came and we made our way to the center court where we were greeted with cheers and screams. We threw out T-shirts and other goodies to everyone, and then some of us stayed to watch the remainder of the game while others jetted off to dinner with family and friends!
Either way, the night proved picture perfect! This week, were traveling to College Station to take on Notre Dame on Friday at 3 o'clock in the second round of the NCAA tournament. College Station isn't too far away y'all, so we hope to see lots of Texas fans there!
Hook 'em!
